Jesus tells the parable to the crowd and then He gives a private explanation to His disciples. In this study I will be concentrating mainly on the explanation.
In this passage two accusations are made against Jesus. The first one comes from those close to Him. And the second one comes from the scribes (religious leaders). And finally, the passage ends with a sober warning from Jesus.
This passage comes in two parts. The first part shows Jesus being overwhelmed by crowds. The second part shows Jesus calling the 12 disciples.
At this point in the Gospel, Jesus has barely begun His public ministry and yet He has the religious leaders aggressively opposing Him.
In this passage Jesus does something that the religious leaders thought was scandalous. We also see the growing conflict between Jesus and the religious leaders of His day.
In this remarkable story we see Jesus healing a man who was paralyzed as well as forgiving his sins.
In this passage we see all three elements of Jesus' ministry in action. Teaching, healing and casting out demons, but mostly healing and casting out demons.
In this study we see the continuation of Jesus' earthly ministry and the beginning of His healing work
