In this passage we see the twelve disciples sent out on a mission by Jesus.
In this passage we see astonishment by the people and astonishment by Jesus but for different reasons.
In this passage we see the power of Jesus over sickness and death, two healings involving touch and we have two lost causes.
In this story we see a man tormented by the forces of Hell bringing chaos to his life and we see Jesus conquering those forces and restoring order
This story contains three themes: extremes, rebukes and faith versus fear. It also contains another example of Jesus' authority.
In this study I will be looking at three parables spoken by Jesus about the Kingdom of God and I will explain what they mean.
Jesus tells the parable to the crowd and then He gives a private explanation to His disciples. In this study I will be concentrating mainly on the explanation.
In this passage two accusations are made against Jesus. The first one comes from those close to Him. And the second one comes from the scribes (religious leaders). And finally, the passage ends with a sober warning from Jesus.
This passage comes in two parts. The first part shows Jesus being overwhelmed by crowds. The second part shows Jesus calling the 12 disciples.
At this point in the Gospel, Jesus has barely begun His public ministry and yet He has the religious leaders aggressively opposing Him.
